Nexium
For Heartburn And Reflux
Nexium is a proton pump inhibitor
(PPI) used to treat heartburn, or
gastroesophageal reflux. Nexium may be used in
combination with two antibiotics to treat
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection and
duodenal ulcers.
Nexium may also be used to treat
other conditions as determined by your
doctor.
Nexium
is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease
(GERD), a condition in which backward flow of
acid from the stomach causes heartburn and
injury of the esophagus (food pipe between the
mouth and stomach).
Nexium
is used to treat the symptoms of GERD, allow the
esophagus to heal, and prevent further damage to
the esophagus. Nexium is also used with other
medications to prevent stomach ulcers.
Nexium
is in a class of medications called proton pump
inhibitors. Nexium works by decreasing the amount of
acid made in the stomach. |
